We all remember the day, I was at the Academy taking a test when our instructor walked in and told us a plane had crashed into the WTC and we should go to the room next door when we were done taking the test. I finished, walked to the room next door expecting to see some small Cessna, piloted by a crazy man, in the side of the WTC. I was shocked to see the massive flames and abhorred as I watched the second plane hit the other tower. The bell sounded and I was off to my next class, which also included taking a test.

I will never forget the ensuing lockdown at the Academy. Going to football practice that day and seeing F-16s patrolling the skies. I will never forget the next time I rode a plane, the following week to an away game, and imagining the horror of the victims on those flights. May we honor all those who perished on that day, those dying on the battlefield in Iraq/Afghanistan, and those still serving in Afghanistan.
